Snowman Party

The beauty of a Christmas tree decorated with pretty ornaments always puts a person into the holiday spirit. As you look at this completed skirt you will see that each little snowman is totally different than the one next to it. It is one of my original patterns. The skirt measures 19 inches in diameter, and made of felted wool. The soft green background fabric is covered in roving wool, and snippets of glittery snowflake ribbon. I then placed the snowmen onto the background, added ribbons and yarns to make the scarves and covered it with bridal tulle. Then the fun began. I thread painted with my sewing machine using a quilting foot. I gave the snowmen twig arms, added fringe to the scarves, and stitched on their happy faces. They even wear eyeglasses and smoke a corncob pipe. I couldn’t resist the little carrot buttons for their noses and tiny buttons sewn down their fronts. It is backed with a pretty olive green felted wool and machine quilted. I added swirls of glitter for additional sparkle. There is even smoke coming out of the pipe. I have just finished a new product for my Etsy shop, lovely gift card pouches. I thread painted a Snowman on felted wool, and embellished with lace and glitter. There is even a satin ribbon loop for hanging. They are very feminine. I made them just the perfect size to hold a gift card, or a tiny gift for that someone special in your life. Victorian Crazy Quilt – Wheat Harvest Block - 13

This block is again one of my theme blocks. As the quilt progressed certain blocks were identified from a particular image that I had incorporated into it. 

As the three sprigs of wheat ended up being the main identifying image on this block we called it, “Wheat Harvest.” Each grain of wheat was embroidered with the petal stitch, and then to give it more sparkle I added a gold glass bead in the center. I then embroidered a pretty blue ribbon to tie them all together.

It is so much fun to be able to work with such a large variety of beads. Here I used the frosted hearts to embellish this small row.



An over lapping latice work of threads can add interest to the block by just switching out different colors of threads.

Although the wheat in this block was the center theme, I wanted to add more interest. Here for the fun of it I incorporated a running vine of purple grapes. Each grape was filled with deep purple glass beads.

I never tired of trying new stitches and embellishments. The color of the threads, the multitude of different stitches, and the beautiful glass beads made this quilt a never ending story.

Snowman House Table Runner

 I drew this little house in the winter, complete with a happy snowman in the front yard. Smoke is coming out of the chimney and it is toasty warm inside. I had my drawing printed onto fabric and incorporated it into this charming table runner. It measures 32 ½ by 12 ¼ inches. It is machine quilted with a meandering stitch. I used cotton fabrics and cotton batting. It has a white and blue center of pieced squares and a lovely green border. The backing and binding are the same blue fabric I used in the center of the top. It would be a lovely accent for your coffee table. The birdie sugar bowl seen in the photos does not come with the table runner. It can be purchased for $38.00 plus shipping and handling.
